Meet EK Kurvy Girl of the Week (OTW): Martina Jackson
Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I am ready for this weekend. On a recent weekend getaway, our featured Kurvy Girl, Martina Jackson, visited the Bahamas. Who's as jealous as I am!? A photographer and interior designer by trade, Martina is clearly living her best life. I had her step out from behind the lens to answer a few questions. So what else can we learn about this world traveler? Read on below :)
Tell us a little bit about yourself...
Name: Martina Jackson
City: Indianapolis, Indiana
In a few words, describe your "eclectic style".
Sometimes I call myself the switch up queen! You might catch me in a modest pencil skirt and blouse one day, then a sassy, low cut number the next. I simply love fashion, and never stay in one box.
What do you consider to be your best feature and why?
Hmm, honestly I can't say one. Overall, I just try to love and appreciate my curves. I embrace them and don't mind flaunting them from time to time.
What does #bodypositive mean to you?
I think being body positive means feeling comfortable and confident in yourself in this exact moment. Not being afraid to show others that you love yourself and they way you look. Personally, I have fitness goals that I am making progress towards. But y'all are gonna get every ounce of this thickness today, and love it!
Finish this sentence: I wouldn't be caught outside without my...
...hair being done. It makes me feel put together, even when I'm just throwing something on and running an errand.
What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of my growth and ability to take risks. I'm learning that often nothing stands in your way of accomplishing a goal, aside from a starting point. So now, I just start the things I've always daydreamed about, and see where it takes me!
Where do you draw your fashion inspiration? Who are some of your favorite designers?
You know, I'm not much of a labels girl these days - I'm all about finding unique pieces with a flattering fit and comfort. For accessories and shoes, I'll splurge a little on designer brands. I love Vince Camuto for gorgeous heels and booties that are extra comfy. And they fit wide feet! But for clothing I stay in places like Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters...and online at Asos or the infamous: Fashion Nova lol
Lastly, why should people follow Eclectic Kurves?
We need to support platforms that promote body positivity, period. It's kind of crazy that it has taken so long for brands to notice that - "hey, there's a plus size market over here!". But I'm glad to see the movement is really taking off. I think Eclectic Kurves is a great example of that, so of course you guys need to stay in the loop with my girl!
I couldn't agree more Martina! Keep shining! Need some interior design inspo? Photos taken? Head to Martina's website!
