I’ve explored the Midwest with my family for years now and I am happy to say that this place that I call home offers some amazingly scary (and sometimes horrifying) haunted house experiences!

What makes a good, scary, haunted house? Is it the actors? The decor? Others would have to say that a scary haunted house would have an incredible scare factor, plenty of unpredictability, a good length, real life looking decor, and most importantly, frightening characters popping up throughout the haunted house. Personally, it’s the energy of the crowd that adds to the overall experience of a haunted house. OK, a creepy clown or two does help.

Well, I am going to have to say that is up to you and how mature you believe your child is. Teens? Sure. Preteens? Probably. Smaller kids? Probably not, but then again, you know your kids better than anyone else!
Typically, haunted houses will have some sort of rating and will let you know if either the younger kids cannot join in or if they’re allowed to while being accompanied by an adult. It just depends!
