Black is Beautiful

My last blog post discussed how important it was to show your personality with a little color in the workplace. Today I want to discuss the opposite. Let's talk about wearing all black...well, almost all black. Why almost? I say this because the key to pulling off an all black look is in your accessories!!! The black becomes a background to showcase those scarves you snagged on the ultimate sale, the heirloom jewelry from your grandmother, or your favorite print that can only be found in a handbag or shoe! Let your black apparel be the canvas for those artsy treasures just waiting for a turn out in the world!

So here is my version of this look:

I paired a black turtleneck from Lane Bryant with a full skirt I picked up from CityChic. Get a similar look here. It's still pretty chilly here so I opted for black tights as well. Again, I focused on playing up my shape with a high waited midi skirt, defining my waistline. Apple shaped girls have to do try this technique! Its also great for pear-shaped gals because it hides the hips and zeroes in on your smallest midsection.

If you have been watching my posts, you know I am a sucker for prints and had to dust off this great oversized clutch hiding in my closet. I finished the look with a statement necklace (shown below) and leopard print booties.

Normally, I would stop here with the post, but I wanted to show you an alternative style-adding a layer! This moto jacket adds an edgy element to the look. I went for a black jacket with spiked sleeves. I loved the texture combo! I lost the necklace, but kept the leopard boots.

How do you play up all black looks? Comment below!  xoxo-Sierra
