Coffee Break: Fashion Styling Tips

eclectic handbags

Since it's Monday, I wanted to start the week with a bang, and give you a few of my insider tips on shopping for and styling your curves. Adding a little energy to your fashion can seem impossible. You get into a routine of wearing a few basic colors or silhouettes, but sometimes it's important to break out of that and showcase your true Fashionista! So take a coffee break and read on!

1. Layer fancy dresses with casual tees for an office appropriate look.

I'm always looking for ways to take my fancy dresses and make them work accessible. Adding this $14 tee from h&m to this lace cutout dress made it fun, and toned down the after-five flair a bit. I loved the ruffles on the sleeves! You could also pair this dress with a turtleneck or blazer, but the tee is a lot of fun and easy to layer underneath, so you don't lose any of the detail on the dress.

2. Shop *Straight Size* stores/sections

That's right. Head on into the Misses section. One of the biggest misconceptions while shopping plus, is that curvy women can only wear products in those sections. Not true. Styling Tip: Dress your body based off of the fabric! I have found so many options in straight size stores that I would have missed if I didn't know to take a peek. For instance, this tee I'm wearing in the photos is a size XL. I'm normally a 2x, but knew this would fit me due to its stretchy fabric. Lots of companies are carrying oversized items in smaller sizes too, so a size L in an oversized sweater would fit me like a fitted 2x. Moral of the story: try things on. Seriously, you can open up your options just by combing the racks in stores you felt didn't cater to plus size.

At this point, your coffee break is probably over, so...until next time! Leave me a comment letting me know a few of your style secrets!

Enjoy today!
