Back to School Organization Tips for Home and Life

Back to school season is here and you’re not alone if you’re in the market for some back to school organization tips for your home and life!

Back to School Season

I cannot believe the back to school season is already here! I have a 7th grader and 3rd grader to shop for this year and let me tell you, I was overwhelmed! I have been preparing my house to make the back to school season go as smoothly as possible and I think I have it down. Now that I have it taken care of, I decided I wanted to share some of my best back to school organization tips to help create a stress free (or at least stress limiting) back to school season!

Let’s dive into the back to school organization tips.

Back to School Organization Tips

When it comes to back to school organization, my best tips are to:

  • set up a desk station

  • set up a homework station

  • set up the snack station

  • create a family home calendar system

Here is a bit more on each of those!

1. Setting up a desk station

If you have the space, I highly recommend setting up a desk station for your child to do their school work. Not only does it provide a constant space for them to get their work done, but it helps them keep everything organized in one spot. Now, don’t worry if you don’t have the space! Skip to my next back to school organization tip for an idea if you’re tighter on space.

2. Setting up a homework station

If you don’t have the space for your child to have their own desk, a homework station for all of your kids is a great idea! A homework station is essentially an area in the home where your children know they can grab everything they need to accomplish their school work while also providing a space to organize past projects. You could set up your homework station wherever you have space in your home! It could be a nook you have in your kitchen, or even a rollie cart that moves around the house and possibly has a home in the living room.

3. Setting up an after school snack station

Are your kids absolutely starving when they get home from school also? I feel like my kids would never stop snacking after school if I didn’t stop them in time for dinner! An after school snack station is a must!

An after school snack station is an area in the home where, you guessed it, easy to handle snacks are kept for the kids. This can look like lower level drawers, storage in the pantry, or even a special cabinet in the kitchen if you have the space!

4. Create a family home calendar system

Lastly, an important back to school organization tip is to set up a family calendar system! A calendar system helps the back to school season (and school year in general) go as smoothly as possible. Ideally, you’d set up this calendar in a high traffic area in your home where it is most accessible. From there, you would use the calendars organization system to organize your families schedules!
