It's that time again: the air is filled with sounds of laughter and glee as we welcome our first snowfalls and begin our favorite Holiday traditions. One of our all-time favorites is Jingle Rails, an immersive and magical exhibit the Eiteljorg Museum hosts annually. Perfect for families of all ages (and parents who are kids-at-heart), Jingle Rails is a must-do during the Holidays in Indy. The event takes over the Eiteljorg Museum for nearly 2 months (November. 23rd-January 20th) and never disappoints. Settle in, grab your favorite hot cocoa and take notes on our latest Holiday adventure!

What to Expect

This is a very popular exhibit with one entry point and one exit. Come prepared to stand in line for a bit unless you come super early. Not to worry, the Eiteljorg Museum team has thought of everything to keep your kiddos company while they wait in line. Before you enter the main exhibit, there are trains passing right over your head! How can you be bored with that kind of magic? ALL ABOARD!

Once you're inside, get ready for the ultimate train exhibit! Get excited as passenger trains wind around some of the iconic Indy landmarks like Lucas Oil Stadium, Monument Circle and The Indianapolis Motor Speedway! Where are all of my history buffs? Marvel at Mount Rushmore and the Alamo! Kids of all ages can appreciate Jingle Rails. There's even the Golden Gate Bridge!

Expect to spend about an hour walking the exhibit and pointing out the trains with your family. Add another hour for shopping and hot cocoa :).

What to Bring

  • Grab your camera (or phone) to take video and images of your kiddos watching the trains go round and round. It never gets old to see their little faces light up! Fun photo tip: Grab a few Thomas the Train hats and turn this exhibit into the perfect backdrop for a fun Holiday Family photo!

  • Patience. There’s a ton to see! Your little ones are going to want to stick around a while.

  • Your stroller is welcome! Even though there is a place to park them outside, you will want to have it on hand for all of the fun exhibits at the Eiteljorg.

  • Bring a little cash to shop the pop-up gift shop located right outside of the exhibit. There's plenty of Christmas gifts just waiting to go home with you!

Insider Tip: Don't forget to have your parking validated on the way out...FREE PARKING makes any family adventure better, am I right?

Enjoy Today!
