Figuring "It" All Out

Self care: Girl in a coffee shop

Hi there! This post is about figuring it out. I'll be honest, even as I write this post I don't have it all figured out, but it's about the journey, right? Well this journey has been quite the winding road. A while ago, I felt stuck in rut, unsure of my next move and needed to dig deep. Finding the it was all about finding my purpose in life. Are you in the same boat? Not sure where to start? Read on...

1) Trust your Instincts

Who knows you better than yourself? I was following a path that made sense....but still I felt like I wasn't living the life I was intended to. I had a great job, and made a decent salary, yet I was unfulfilled. My instincts kept pulling me in another direction. Eventually I couldn't ignore that little voice inside that kept telling me I was destined for "more", and I acted on it. I resigned from my job. One of the scariest things I have ever done. As a Mom and wife I thought I was making a huge mistake, but I knew I needed to follow my heart. If it doesn't feel right, don't continue to do it. Life is too short!

2) Take Risks

It's easy to get caught up in what everyone else thinks is your obvious next step. However, just as I learned in #1 about trusting your instincts, I have concluded that figuring it out must have something to do with taking risks. I took a risk, and though it was scary, it is paying off because I am focusing on what I love, and that makes me happy!

3) Stop Short-Changing Yourself

Why isn't this a bumper sticker?

Why isn't this a bumper sticker?

Mom. Wife. Boss. Friend....all great things....but have you ever felt so busy being all those things that you forgot about you? I wasn't investing in ME. I woke up everyday with the intent to take care of my family and go to work, and wasn't taking any time to work on developing myself. I'm going to get real honest here: there were moments I just put myself last. I gained weight (a bunch), lost self-esteem, and became irritable at home (sorry hubby)- all because I simply didn't feel whole. It wasn't until I began to love myself and make time for Sierra, that I saw a clearer path.

4) It doesn't happen overnight...trust me.

Seriously re-read that statement and re-read it again. Stop beating yourself up for not having it all together TODAY. What does that look like anyway? We can be our own worst critics, and its so easy to compare and lose sight. The key is to follow your heart on your journey. Figuring *It* out should not be defined by where someone else is in life. Stay the path!

5) Be Vulnerable

So here I am, writing this blog post, for all of you, sharing my story. And it's tough to put yourself out there, but I have realized being vulnerable is just another road on the journey :). Today I am on the right path to identifying my purpose. I now know that I am more than a 40 hour/week job and capable of being a great friend to MYSELF. The joy of being a Mom and wife didn't have to come at the price of belittling my own ambitions.

**Bonus : Be Passionate and Thankful**

Blogging is opening a gateway for me to communicate ME. My passion is in telling stories and promoting positivity in life. It brings me so much joy and happiness to express myself and inspire others. Now I am working on becoming whole! Where could your passion take you? Are you really listening?

Even though I knew this journey was mine to experience, it doesn't hurt to have a supportive hubby at home either :). When I started talking about going for my goals and stepping out of my comfort zone, the response was overwhelming from my family and friends. Surround yourself with people who want to lift you up and watch you grow in your passion. I am so thankful for all of you!
