Keepin’ it Local: The Ultimate #LoveFishers Shopping Guide

I don't know about you, but I totally get a thrill shopping local. Now don't get me wrong- as a Indy native, I'm happy to have IKEA, Target and Starbucks within walking distance of work, but I have a special place in my heart for small shops. Not only do I respect the hustle of local entrepreneurs, I love the idea of giving back to my community. As a Hamilton county resident, and full time employee in the city of Fishers, I feel like it's my second home. When I heard Fishers was launching their #LoveFishers campaign for the month of February, I knew I wanted to show my local readers a few of my fave spots.

Dottie Couture

8594 E 116th St #20, Fishers, IN 46038

Our first stop was Dottie Couture, a trendy apparel and accessories shop, right in the heart of The Nickel Plate district. The perfect store to find a cute look for "Girls Nite Out", this cute shop has so much to offer. Now, if you've been a reader for a while, you know how much I appreciate size-inclusive shopping, so I'd be lying if I said I was skeptical to cover fashion for this guide since Fishers is in need of more plus size options. I was pleasantly surprised to see SEVERAL options in Dottie that my curvy girls could wear! Styling Tip: Curvy women can shop straight size stores! Always look at the material before the size! Take a look at a few options I found while shopping around, and add this store to your list of local stops.

Gallery 116

8597 E 116th St, Fishers, IN 46038

Next up, I headed across the street to Gallery 116, a local favorite for many. Their tagline, "Where Local Makers and Market Goods Come Together" says it all. Guys, when I tell you they have everything, I mean...they have EVERYTHING! This eclectic fashionista was in local heaven! Pottery, jewelry, clothing, more jewelry, kitchen gadgets and unique gifts....did I mention jewelry?

A MUST stop on your day-shopping trip in the city, Gallery has more cool rooms than I can do justice in this post. House-turned-store, when I walked into the kitchen section, I couldn't get enough of the gift ideas I was finding. Check out the painted wine glasses on your next visit. We totally fell in love, and you will too!

Blue Peppermint

8936 South Street Fishers, IN 46038

I love downtown Fishers. There's so much old and new; perfectly blended together. I had that exact feeling when I walked in to Blue Peppermint, a colorful green house tucked away from the main road. On the outside, it's just a house...on the inside...a shoppers dream. I quickly dashed for the scarf table, turning one into a headband perfect for Spring. Then I went in search of straight-sized items I could hopefully wear, and found a few. My FAVE reason for adding this shop to my list- the quirky, yet feminine gifts. I found a Valentine's Day tumbler to die for and an array of candles that will make you giggle. Take a few coins with you when shopping this store. I dare you to leave without a plethora of goodies!

Della Leva Espresso Bar

8220 E. 106th Street, Fishers IN 46256

Easily the cutest coffee shop I have EVER seen, Della Leva is the newest hidden gem in Fishers. I had been dying to check this place out, and knew I wanted to add it to my list. The perfect stop after shopping around the city, Della Leva's vibe is quite eclectic, making it my new fave cool down spot. The aesthetics are a bloggers dream! From edgy red leather chairs (with a built-in table for your coffee), to a Parisian-themed seating, there's something for everyone. Grab a "Havana" cappuccino (recommended by a local regular) and admire the beautiful flower wall. Just another reason to #LoveFishers.

These are just a few of my picks for shopping in this great city. Fun fact: my talented photographer and blogger boo, Maggie had never really shopped in the area, but instantly fell in love with our stops. It's so awesome to share what's happening locally, and there's so much more to come! I hope you enjoyed this first installment of my #LoveFishers series. Check back next week for great Valentine's or Gal-entine's Day Date-Night suggestions!

Enjoy today!
