How to Practice Self Care on Valentine's Day

Celebrating Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean a date night with a partner, you can have just as much of an indulgent Valentine’s Day on your own, doing your own thing and celebrating yourself. Practicing some self care on Valentine’s Day is a great idea!

I love Valentine's Day. I love the idea of getting dressed up and going out. Ever since I was a little girl, getting dressed up played a part in the holiday. My first valentine, my Mom, would always buy me chocolate and a beautiful dress. From a very young age, I realized when you look good, you feel good.

As most women are unapologetically busy, taking this time is so important. Date or not...invest back into yourself this Valentine's Day. Here are a couple of suggestions I have for making the most of this love day, and put yourself first.

10 Self Care Ideas for Valentine’s Day

1. Dress Up for Yourself.

Dressing up is a form of self care. Read that again. Think about the time and energy you put into your best looks. You're pampering yourself and don't even realize it! I dress up for myself first and everyone else, second.

Here are a few fun looks that will help you to feel fabulous and ready to take on this love holiday. 

2. Take a long indulgent BATH.

The epitome of ME TIME is a luxurious bath experience!

I'm talking about hitting up your fave bath bomb spot, grabbing champagne and leaving the glass in the kitchen because this is YOUR time, OK! I want you to put rose petals in your water and bath oils that take your mind to a new place. Indulge in YOU. If this doesn’t make you feel sexy and pampered, I don’t know what will! 

3. Create a "Love Jams" soundtrack and put on red lipstick and lingerie just because. 

Why red? Because it’s sexy

Turn on Spotify, and eat chocolate covered strawberries...in lingerie...with your face BEAT. You are your own #WomanCrushWednesday girlfriend!

How to choose the right tunes: think about what makes you feel the sexiest! Pick some songs that you can dance around to that make you feel like the beautiful woman that you are. The love jams playlist above is a great place to start!

4. Gal-entine's Day just got LUXE.

Call up the girls in your life, and create your own Sex in the City walk down the street. Watch them all stare at the magic gracing the restaurant. Can you say #squadgoals?

Things like a movie night, seeing a show, wine tasting, or taking a cooking class together could be fun ways to celebrating Galentine’s Day!

5. Write Yourself a Love Letter.

Remind yourself why you are so amazing. Love should start here first, and what a great day to gush over YOU! How empowering!

To get started with your love letter, decide what you want to write about. This could be an “I love you” letter, an “I appreciate you” letter, or an “I’m proud of you” letter for example. Your letter doesn’t have to be perfect, instead just sit down and let your heart out. Write in third person and share what you love about yourself or what you are proud of yourself for. Really dive in and get emotional!

6. Have a Valentine's Day Photoshoot- starring YOU!

I love this one! Whether it's a boudoir shoot, or just a fun/sassy modeling shoot; have someone capture your essence. Fall in love with the photos. I did a boudoir shoot a while back and am still obsessed with the photos. The shoot was so empowering and made me feel amazing!

Something you could do is print out your own photobook or frame some photos around your house to truly empower yourself.

7. Make Yourself a Care Package

This idea for incorporating some self care on Valentine’s Day is a great idea if your self love language is gift giving. Head to Target or open up your Amazon app and put together a basket of some of your favorite things. These could be make up products, self care products, drinks, clothes; you get the picture.

Have fun with this option and really treat yourself! Set a budget for yourself if you need to.

8. Give Yourself a Blissful Spa Night

Ah yes, a beautiful spa night is always in the cards and celebrating some self care on Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to break out the goods. If you need to, order yourself some cozy spa night essentials like the ones listed below and prepare for an indulgent night in. Don’t forget the chocolate covered strawberries!

9. Buy Yourself Your Own Chocolate and Flowers

You don’t need someone else to make you feel special, you can make yourself feel just as special on your own! Head to a nice grocery store near you and pick up some nice chocolate and a bouquet of flowers or better yet, head to a local flower shop and chocolate shop to gift yourself some upscale chocolates and flowers this Valentine’s Day!

10. Cook Yourself a Nice Meal

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate yourself with a nice meal. Self care on Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be extravagant, and neither does the meal. It can be a simple guilty pleasure meal of yours, or even one of those Home Chef meal kits you can pick up from the grocery store that already has everything you need to make a nice meal at home.
